In the thirty some years of teaching I have found PLTW the most exciting and positive thing that I have seen in the Technology and Engineering area. I am very excited about the fact that the curriculum is updated on a regular basis to stay up to date with current trends in Engineering and Technology. The students are also very excited about the activities and projects that they are involved in. I have found that students are academically challenged with the PLTW curriculum.

I have the luxury of teaching Physics, Advanced Placement Calculus, and Principles of Engineering. I can tell you first hand that the Principles of Engineering course curriculum is very challenging. Not only does it challenge students to be better problem solvers by solving mathematic problems, but it forces the students to work together and solve projects. As educators we are constantly trying to bring rigor and relevancy into the classroom. This course does that and the best part about it is that many of the students don’t even realize how hard they are being challenged. I like to use this parenting analogy, “We are hiding the broccoli with the cheese.”
